Can't say I'm a great fan of Youtube.
Although I have been sent some funny clips in email and have found some instructional pieces helpful, I find most of it rather self indulgent crap. Looking for a clip I would consider adding to my blog confirmed this; I wasted a lot of time really. Nothing really stood out although I must admit Johnny Depp as sexy Captain Jack was fun. I can see some useful applications in a Library setting. Low cost, user friendly effective training sessions for staff and patrons in technology use perhaps.

Where were we going again?????
Back to my travel theme.... I really liked the RealTravel blog site. Many people (including me) use our library to borrow Lonely Planet guides when planning an overseas travel itinerary. Great as they are, by the time we get there everyone else is doing similar things, looking for the same hotels etc. I like the idea of fresher more tailored planning, and the option of planning by either Destination or Things to do.
The Free Trip Planner would be a great tool, enabling to to rough out, organize reorganize itinerary as you go, taking into account insights from other travellers and linking to other travel guides. The Female Solo Travel would be very useful to many women (wish I had had access to such when I travelled solo around the world.

Wiki Wiki Wiki...
Now I get it. As a slow-tech learner, I found the Youtube video by Commoncraft videos, demonstrating wikis especially helpful in explaining the basics and potential uses of Wikis, for both personal, community and Library use.I still have my doubts about wikipedia, but I thought a local version similar to the Library Success - A Best practices Wiki has a lot of potential ( I think the email confirmation is a good idea)

Web 2.0, Library 2.0
Future Libraries - WOW - Scary, exciting, incomprehensible, sensible, alienating yet in a way so sociable....
The pace and immediacy of technology as it evolves and as libraries evolve with it is fascinating yet at times beyond my comprehension. The Libraries 2.0 Program is now fitting together for me and I can now see the overall picture I think.....
Knowledge has never been finite, but now where and when can anyone stop, satisfied they have discovered all they can at any point in time? There is so much out there and more every minute.
Perfectionists and obsessives beware.
Will people still leave their computers long enough to enjoy the feel of a well thumbed book written by an expert, buy a newspaper or a magazine, will they attend classes, lectures, tutorials, theatres, cinemas, art galleries, museums, even libraries? Will the social interface of learning be a computer screen/ i pod / mobile phone? Will the world be divided even further by those with technology at their fingertips and those without? I wonder..........

Del.icio.us is fantastic
As an ex teacher I would think tagging would make organizing and developing curriculum and lesson plans ever so much easier, and lead to much greater sharing of ideas and resources at individual student, class, school, region, even state level.
As a life long learner, traveller and grappler with new technologies, the concept of tagging has many interesting and manageable possibilities for me.
As a Library worker, I see tagging useful for relevant on line group training, socialising and sharing interests at staff level. Also as avaluable shared tool for homework and reference quieries.
